A test for prospective Connemara owners

Posted on: January 8, 2015

So you want to buy a Connemara, and you’re asking yourself if you should pay attention to the inspections program?

Take this test to evaluate whether your goals are aligned with those of Connemara inspections.

You would rather:

A) See a beautiful Connemara and say, “Isn’t that a beautiful Connemara?”

B) See a beautiful Connemara and say, “That’s a terrible Connemara because it doesn’t meet the rugged, sturdy and short-legged standards that breed officials wrote on a sheet of paper as the definition of a good Connemara.”

You would rather:

A) Ride a horse that was athletic and willing.

B) Ride a horse that fits the rugged and sturdy description required by inspections, even if the horse won’t get out of park.

You would rather:

A) Buy a horse whose ancestors have a history of athleticism and willingness.

B) Buy a horse that has passed a five-minute inspection evaluating whether the horse is rugged and sturdy enough and has short enough legs.

If you answered A to these choices, you are more than qualified to buy a Connemara based on its merits. Ignore the Connemara inspections program.

If you answered B, the Connemara inspections program is for you.
